Remembrance Day, Nov. 11 2020

Celebrating Veterans' Week, November 5-11, 2020

This year our Remembrance Day ceremony is going virtual: to safely honour this Remembrance Day, we will stream our ceremony using Facebook Live.

We are inviting one designated essential caregiver per resident to be present onsite on November 11th. Remaining in their loved one’s room, while using their own devices and technology, our community will be able to watch the ceremony live using facility Wi-Fi.

  • Facebook:
  • This broadcast will be accessible to the public, a Facebook account is not required to view this ceremony.
  • If you are a follower of the Facebook page and logged in to Facebook on November 11th, the Facebook Live event will appear at the top of your page so that you can view the ceremony.
  • The ceremony will begin just after 10:35 am and end before 11:15.

For those Residents who will not have a designated essential caregiver on-site, Perley Rideau staff will facilitate small, physically-distanced gatherings on units to watch the ceremony.

Our ceremony will be conducted at our cenotaph in front of the Rideau building entrance by a minimal number of Perley Rideau staff. We ask that our community does not congregate outside. We want to ensure the safety of our community, while still being able to honour this day.

To help us prepare, we are asking you use Calendy to let us know that you are planning on attending. Beginning Monday, November 2nd you will be able to book your Remembrance Day visit online. This booking will remain open until midnight on Sunday, November 8th.  By booking in advance you will help us ensure that all Residents are supported on Remembrance Day.

As always, all visiting protocols are to be observed. The one designated essential caregiver who plans on attending must have a negative COVID-19 test within 14 days of November 11th.

More information regarding your Remembrance Day visit will be communicated through your booking confirmation and information sheets provided to you on November 11th.

Please note that due to the dynamic nature of this time, visiting regulations are subject to change to be in line with Government directives.

We thank you for your safe participation and support of the life of our community on this most important day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Manager of Resident Care where your loved one resides or email

Together, we improve the well-being of the people we serve.
