Family and Friends Council (FFC)

Plan on attending the next FFC meeting this Thursday, May 17th. Find out more:

The Mission of the Family and Friends Council [FFC] is to improve the quality of life for all residents by promoting an atmosphere of compassionate care and support amongst family members, friends, volunteers and staff.

Participation is open to residents’ family members, former residents of The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, and persons of importance to residents who are committed to acting as their advocates.

Council meets monthly except in July and August.  Meetings provide opportunities for participants to learn more about life at Perley Rideau, share experiences and support one another.  Each meeting has a Management update, and an educational component followed by a question and answer period.  Recent topics covered included:  What Does Good Care Look Like to a Family Member ? Resident Satisfaction Survey Results, Communications, Behind the Scenes at Perley Rideau, Elder Abuse and Perspectives on Continuity of Care and Staffing.

The Council continues to work closely with management to represent the interests of long-term care residents and their families as The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre continues its transformation into a Seniors Village.

Since its inception, the Council has developed By-Laws, a Code of Conduct, a Strategic Plan and published an Annual Report.
