Mary Dawson is currently on the Board of Directors at the Perley Rideau. She was appointed Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner under Parliament of Canada Act on July 9, 2007. She had a long career with the Government of Canada and oversaw a wide variety of legal issues from within the Department of Justice. She retired from the Government in 2005 as Associate Deputy Minister, a position she had held since 1988.
Mary holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy, and a Bachelor Civil Law from McGill University, an LL. B, Common Law, from Dalhousie University and a Diplome d’etudes superieures en droit, droit public, from the University of Ottawa.
Mary is a member of the Nova Scotia and Ontario Bars. Mary made Queen’s Counsel in 1978 and was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2007. Mary served on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Hospital from June 2006 to June 2014.
