Kimber is a member of the Board of Directors at the Perley Rideau. Following several years in private law practice in Halifax, Ms. Johnston moved to Ottawa to join the Government of Canada where she held several senior executive positions, including Executive Director of the RCMP Public Complaints Commission, Executive Director of the Federal Prosecution Service, Vice-President of the Canada Border Services Agency responsible for Customs and Immigration enforcement and Assistant Deputy Minister of the Afghanistan Task Force responsible for coordinating Canada’s military, diplomatic and humanitarian response to the Afghan conflict.
Kimber is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School and a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. Ms. Johnston also attended as a member of Course 44 of the National Defence College.
Ms. Johnston has served on the Boards of several not-for-profit corporations, including various condominium corporations. Ms. Johnston is also a part-time Member of the Social Security Tribunal, a quasi-judicial body responsible for hearing appeals related to Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and Employment Insurance benefits.
