Joe is the Treasure for the Perley Rideau Board of Directors. He is a native of Prince Edward Island and is an education administrator with expertise in the areas of institutional development, research management, financial performance management, and strategic planning. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, and a former Canadian Army officer with previous military service in the Middle East, Balkan States and in the Caribbean.
Joe is a graduate of the Royal Military College and the University of Waterloo and holds degrees in both engineering and in mathematics. He presently serves as Chair of Canada’s Defence Advisory Board. After 20 years of military service, Joe joined the faculty of DeVry University in 1996 and held several senior administrative appointments within the DeVry University system.
In 2005 was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal in recognition of his contributions to post- secondary education in that province. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contributions in the community. He is also a nationally-certified Biathlon Canada competition official and Past- President of Biathlon Prince Edward Island. Joe now shares his time between Prince Edward Island and the Ottawa area where he lives with his wife, Monique.
